Elizabeth's Acupuncture Training

Elizabeth   After receiving acupuncture treatments for several years, Elizabeth Kramer became fascinated by their efficiency and effectiveness - not only on her physical health but also on her psychological and emotional well-being.

With a passion for sharing this powerful experience with others, she studied and received her master's degree at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (TAI) in Columbia, MD, which included studies at the School of Acupuncture in Leamington Spa, England, with Dr. J.R. Worsley.

As she studied, she intuitively recognized the information she was learning - despite the fact that the teachings of traditional Chinese medicine vary widely from those found in Western Anatomy and Physiology classes.

In Chinese Medicine, Elizabeth found one of the oldest forms of healing known to mankind. It originated in China more than five thousand years ago. This system of medicine is about how to live one’s life in accordance with the great natural laws of the universe and how to achieve health through moving the flow of life energy or chi through a person’s body.

Chinese medicine teaches that each organ not only affects the physical working of other organs and the body as a whole, but also influences higher functions. For example, a single organ (the Spleen) affects the production of Qi (or life force), the transformation of thought to action, and the effectiveness of mental processes such as memory, as well as dysfunctional processes such as anxiety or obsession. Everything is interconnected. To prevent a malfunction, each organ must be considered in relation to the greater whole.

This new way of seeing the body made Elizabeth realize consciously what she had learned from her traditional Indian grandmother, who had hardly received any education past the second grade. Excited by this connection, she completed her studies at TAI in 1993 and returned to her homeland of Peru to learn the healing arts of the indigenous people there.

Yet another door opened when she discovered the traditional teachings of the ancient Incas. They, like the Chinese, knew about the physical body, the mind and the Spirit, far more than modern cultures were willing to admit. Elizabeth studied with indigenous healers (shamans) to learn more about this life force that runs through us and throughout all of nature.

Through the teachings of the ancient Chinese and Incan cultures, she gained a deep understanding of the human body and its workings. She directly experienced the preciousness of life and nature, and the interconnectedness of everything that exists. It is from this grounded center of connection and compassion that she sees and treats her clients.
